SHENANIGANS ON SATURDAYS!!!

There's always lots of fun going on at our weekly adoption events! Here's a sneak peak at some of the fun that went on yesterday at Petsmart (next to Costco). Our featured star, Merlin, is a very happy-go-lucky Basset Hound who was picked up by the local pound and then rescued by UAF. He's very close to finding his forever home. We think he may be able to fly to that new home with those ears! What do you think? Let us know what you think of our weekly adoption events and how we can improve them by commenting below.

Morsels of Goodness

In this section, you'll meet newly adopted pups living happily every after with their new forever families. We often hear so much bad news that we at United Animal Friends and Table Scraps thought every one deserved a Morsel of Goodness!
THIS MONTH'S MORSEL: DASH
A note from Dash's new mom, Christina: ". . . . here are a couple pictures of Dash. It is not all of us in the pictures, but my two youngest Kids Tammi and Tarik! They just adore him and he loves to go outside with them and play. He is very happy and getting very spoiled as well! Thanks for recommending him! We could tell that he has a past where he was not happy. He gets very frightened if we tell him no. He will put his tail between his legs and cower. But he understands now that we are not going to hurt him. He gets praised all the time and he is not acting frightened as much anymore. It is so sad to think of how anyone could hurt or abandon animals.
He is just a wonderful little dog and our other dog has really taking a liking to him They will play tug of war together and share their toys. I wish I had the camera when they were doing the tug of war, it would have made a great picture!
Thank you!
Christina"

Thank you for saving a life Christina!

Olsen's Grain Adoption Event: Dewey, AZ

This past weekend, United Animal Friends teamed up with Olsen's Grain Feed Store out in Dewey, and along with a few other vendors and the Yavapai County Humane Society, we participated in an all-day adoption and information expo. Turnout was actually pretty good, and despite some particularly windy conditions, the day went well. United Animal Friends was able to adopt out one great little red heeler from Chino Valley Animal Control, and a few other dogs were able to meet some interested families and potential adopters. The dog on the chair is Thor, an especially hilarious and charismatic malamute mix. The one in the chair relaxing with me is my darling Kirby (also featured as this month's adoptable mutt).

Adoptable Mutt of the Month!

In our Adoptable Mutt Of The Month feature, you'll find great dogs up for adoption. You can read a bit about them, get a quick glance, maybe even see them in action in our 'Pawtentially Yours' Video series . . .

THIS MONTH: KIRBY

In his kennel, Pointer-mix Kirby acts a bit like a nervous student – anxious to pass whatever test he thinks he’s taking and hear that bell ring. But once he’s outside, it’s RECESS!!!!! As soon as he knows it’s time to let loose, Kirby becomes the king of the play-bow, back flop and crazy jump, and he can barely contain his excitement when introduced to toys. He’s probably around a year old, and he’s got a gorgeous, copper-speckled chest and a sleek pointer body. He may need a bit of time to get accustomed to new environments, but this little guy loves playing and is super-friendly and affectionate too. You’ll just need to convince him that the rest of his life is going to be the wonderful fun and games of recess – save for a bit of doggie training time in between!

Welcome!

The Table Scraps Mission . . .
Table Scraps is really just a 'table scrap': a leftover, half-eaten morsel of collective understanding . . . the half-nonsense, half righteous brain-remains of the typical rescue volunteer after the day is done, the dogs and cats are fed, the lights are out and yet there is still so much to be done, so many ideas to be shared, and so many more animals to save. Don’t you deserve, if nothing else, a Table Scrap?
